A mucous membrane medicine. Chronic forms of inflammation of the Schneiderian membrane with considerable relaxation and profuse discharge. Chief value in catarrhal states, with full stuffy sensation in head and throat. Useful in cuts, bruises and sprains; and as a diuretic and in malaria. Not yet proven, but found useful in profuse mucous or serous discharges; in nasal and pharyngeal catarrh, diarrhoea and urethritis. Recommended in heart disease, as a quieting agent when unduly excited.
یہ مخاطی جھلیوں (Mucous membranes) کی دوا ہے۔ ناک کی اندرونی جھلی (Schneiderian membrane) کی پرانی سوزش، جس میں ڈھیلا پن اور بہت زیادہ رطوبت خارج ہو۔ اس کی خاص افادیت نزلی کیفیتوں (Catarrhal states) میں ہے، جہاں سر اور گلے میں بھرا ہوا بند احساس ہو۔ کٹنے، چوٹ، موچ، پیشاب آور اثر (Diuretic) اور ملیریا میں مفید سمجھی گئی۔ ابھی پوری طرح ثابت شدہ نہیں، مگر بلغم یا پانی جیسی رطوبتوں کے زیادہ اخراج، ناک اور حلق کے نزلہ، اسہال اور پیشاب کی نالی کی سوزش (Urethritis) میں مفید پائی گئی۔ دل کی بیماری میں جب دل غیر معمولی طور پر مشتعل ہو تو سکون دینے والی دوا کے طور پر تجویز کی گئی۔
