• Warm-blooded, aggravated by heat, better from cold.

• Marked swelling and fluid retention with thirstlessness.
• Aggravation at 3–4 p.m., by touch, by suppressed eruptions, or before/during menses.
• Desire for cold drinks, especially cold milk.

Physical Keynotes

Apis is the number one remedy for allergic reactions with swelling, insect stings, hives (urticaria), angioedema, swollen throats, ovarian cysts, brain swelling, kidney conditions with edema, and urinary retention. Internal and external swellings are a strong indication.

• Right-sided sore throat better from cold drinks.
• Water retention with thirstlessness.
• Conditions of kidneys, bladder, and urinary tract.
• Skin conditions: hives, abscesses, boils, eczema, chickenpox, measles, herpes, shingles.

Remedy Relationships

• Complementary: Natrum Muriaticum (Nat Mur).
• Compare: Urtica Urens, Pulsatilla, Belladonna, Ledum, Lycopodium, Bryonia, Rhus Tox, Bovista, Apocynum, Cantharis.

Nat Mur and Apis are both warm-blooded, thirstless, aggravated by heat, and prone to hives. Apis also overlaps with kidney remedies such as Apocynum and Cantharis.
